Mayor's Walk

Join Her Worship, Kim Denouden, Mayor of North Dumfries Township on June 18, 2005 as she unveils a number of plaques in Ayr.

The Mayor's Walk will commence at the cenotaph in downtown Ayr at 10:30 a.m. following the Fresh Ayr Festival parade. The Mayor will walk to Victoria Park where she will dedicate a plaque to Mr. Stanley Edward Scheitzer (known to many in Ayr for Stan's Coffee Shop). Mr. Schweitzer donated the fabulous playground equipment located in the Park.

From Victoria Park, the Mayor will walk to the Ayr Library. At the Library, the Mayor will dedicate the Aileen and Orville Gingrich Meeting Room. She will also unveil a plaque, from the Friends of the Ayr Library, in honour of Aileen and Orville Gingrich for their very significant and meaningful contributions to the Library and the community. The Mayor will also dedicate a plaque from North Dumfries Township to the Library.

The next stop will be Schmidt Park (which is located near the Ayr Firehall). At Schmidt Park, the Mayor will dedicate the Park to Jim Schmidt in recognition of 50 years of volunteer Fire Service to the Community of Ayr. The service building and pavilion will officially be opened by the Mayor.

Please join the Mayor on her journey as she recognizes the contributions that individuals have made to improve our community. Mr. Schweitzer, Mr. Schmidt and the Gingrich's are role models for members of our community and embody the spirit of community enrichment.
