In 2003, the Board of Directors of the Fresh Ayr Festival founded the Ayr Head Award. The award is presented annually to an individual, organization, group or team that has made an outstanding contribution to our community. The purpose of this award is to recognize selfless actions that contribute to the betterment of our community.

A plaque, donated by Pat Connell, hangs in the Ayr Library to commemorate the winners of the Award. The Award recipient is also given a small trophy to keep. The award will be presented on Saturday June 20, 2009 at the Fresh Ayr Festival
